So I am pretty excited to see who will get matched up for the upcoming Battle of the Bar Staff – Fight Against Hunger on April 22 at Weirdo’s. This has been a project in the works for years. Derek Tate approached me with the concept about 2 years when I was doing sales and marketing for a downtown venue. The owners were not too eager to jump on board with him bringing his 3,000 pound octagon onto the dance floor. He continued to pitch the idea to several venues with no bites, so he put it on the shelf for awhile.
He recently became involved with ViSalus who is actively involved in the fight against child hunger. Hulk Hogan is one of their celebrity ambassadors. The connection inspired Derek to re-visit his Big Glove Boxing match concept, so we put our heads together a few months ago to finally bring this event to fruition.
In summary, Austin’s favorite Bar Staff employees will climb into the cage and battle it out with each other in Big Glove Boxing to help raise money for the Fight Against Child Hunger. Matches will be emceed by Toddy B, referred by Nick “The Ghost” Gonzlez, and judged by the audience and local celebrities, including Nick “The Ghost” Gonzlez. Live DJ’s will play all day and local food and beverage vendors will be providing goodies to eat and drink. 100% of the proceeds will go to charity.
My question to you, who would you like to see matched up in the octagon?
- Bartenders
- Sexiest cocktail waitresses
- Bar owners and managers
- Owners, managers and girls from rivaling strip clubs
- DJ and promoters
Please post your nominations or volunteer yourself!!!
