Anticipation surrounds me. Excitement fills the air. Sweat beads up and rolls off my body like the early morning dew on a cold winter morning. Heart beats quicken, our bodies heaving rhythmically in tune as we wait, panting and breathless, for the final climax. It’s coming… are you ready?

By now you probably know EXACTLY  what I’m talking about…

If not, here’s a hint: It has an S and an X, is much better when it involves more than just yourself, and can be enjoyed free, or enhanced by large amounts of money.

Got it now? Yes I’m talking about SXSW!

Starting humbly in 1987 SXSW has become one of the largest music festivals in the world.

One week in March every year, people fly in from all over the world to enjoy the festival, and as soon as its over they go home, recuperate, and regroup for the next year.

What to expect?

This year, expect no less than the best, forget stress, forget rest – it’s an impressive mess! Just come as a guest and enjoy the fest!

In other, non-seussian, words, “ENJOY yo self!” This will be just my third time attending the fest but the past two have been incredibly memorable and at times awe inspiring experiences to say the least. I’d go into more detail but I don’t believe the statutes of limitations are up yet for some of the things I’ve done. Just follow my motto: “I plead the fifth when I’m on sixth.”

Whether this is your first or your 20th the festival holds something in store for any and every one with a dream, goal, passion, love for the arts, or a combination of all. Be prepared to network, imbibe in a wide range of beverages, meet your favorite artists, executives and entrepreneurs, and dance the nights and days away – if you’re lucky, all at the same time! And at that one moment, when you catch yourself mid Macarena, while spilling your free beer, being cheered on while surrounded by the veterans of your industry, ask yourself, “Would this happen in any other place in the world?” Then smile and reply, “Not a chance… This… This is Awesome, Texas”
