So I’m chilling at the bar at Malverde, trying to order a drink. Next to me were these 2 guys also trying to get the bartender’s attention for another round of drinks. Apparently the bartender was busy closing a tab at the register so we all had to be patient. You do not want to make the guy who’s serving you angry in any situtation. (That’s why I don’t mess with waiters at restaurant…If you’ve seen the movie Waiting, you know why). So I remain patient and wait for my turn since those guys were there before me. The bartender turned around a couple of times to acknowledge all of us and with a simple hand gesture told us he’d get to us shortly. All was cool…Until…
This girl, who happened to be white, blonde, with big breasts walked up in the middle of them and shouted at the man behind the bar: “BARTENDER! BARTENDER!” as she shook her glass full of ice in the air. I thought WOW, what a bitch! How quickly does the world owe her something because she thinks her shit doesn’t stink? You only see this kind of gesture and disdain in reenactements and movies about the Medieval Ages when kings would give orders to their servants. As soon as he heard that, the bartender turned around slowly to figure out where it came from. They seemed to all know each other and those guys were probably ordering for her too. Well, too bad. He then did right thing and ignored them all. They got punished along with her obnoxious ass and did not get their drinks. The bitch even came back and made matters worse by saying something along the lines of “awww did I hurt your feelings? Just get over it!“. The dudes did not know where to put themselves and tried to calm her down. But it was too late. They were guilty by association.
I watched it all unfold before my eyes. And lucky for me, I was next. The bartender actually came right up to me with a smile and I placed my order. My drink was mixed perfectly and we actually introduced ourselves to each other. And the whole time we talked, he did not make eye contact with those 2 guys next me. And of course, the bitch was gone.
The moral of the story is: do not mess with the people who serve you. And if someone in your group is a total jerk/bitch, act you don’t know her/him or you’ll be waiting a while to get your drink.
I personally could not be a bartender…I have a small tolerance for bullshit and drunk people tend to run on it. So I applaud bartenders and show them some love whenever I can. A Please. A Thank You. A Hi, what’s your name. And of course a good tip. These go a long way for someone who has to put up with demanding drunk people for hours…
Have you ever seen anything like that? Does it happen often? What about you, my bartender people?
