So I was just chillin’ with a couple of my friends at Beso. Actually, we weren’t just chillin’. We were jammin’ because the music is pretty good and we all always feel like dancin’ when we hear old school songs. There were a few people who felt the same way next to us throwing their hands in the air and all that good stuff. We were really acting goofy: dancing in front the mirror, trying to come up with the most ridiculous dance, even broke into an Electric Slide for a couple minutes. I’m sure people were watching us but it was not like we were making a spectacle as if to say “oh look at us, we’re better than you. You guys are lame.” It’s a Tuesday night so there’s only a few people there. Plus people are relatively more chill than on weekends so we were probably the most dynamic people there. And honestly we weren’t even paying attention to anybody else but it’s not like we had a closed dance circle either. We were laughing the whole time and moving to the music.
Then out of nowhere, this dude walked up and started break-dancing. No top rock. No hello. He went right into it. And not to judge a book by its cover (which I’m sure we all did anyway), he didn’t look like a B-Boy at all. Just a regular tall white guy who happened to actually be a good dancer. He did perform some pretty impressive stuff like windmills and flares. He ended his little 30 second performance with a pose as if to say “look what I can do“. Then he got up and walked away…As he went back to his friends, 2 girls who were just sitting there the whole time, saw the whole thing, got up and started talking to him.
Then I thought: “wow! The balls on this guy!” I’m not hating on him because I am the kind to always enjoy seeing people having a good time, dancing it up. I’m definitely not hating on him because he got those girls’ attention. Good for him. I’m just saying that when you step up in the middle of the dancefloor (or whatever area people have chosen to jam in) with an attitude like “you guys don’t even know…Make way because I’m about to show you how it’s done. All eyes on me!” and walk away without acknowledging those you have just interrupted, you are one cocky son of a bitch. I actually wanted to praise him on his moves too but he walked away like bad asses walk away from an explosion in action movies in slow motion with a look on their face as if to say “Mission accomplished. I’m not even going to look back .”
It was just interesting to witness such personality. He wanted to prove a point. That he can dance better than us. Maybe he did. Maybe he wanted to get attention from girls. Maybe he was high on testosterone. Maybe he wanted to show that white people can dance too (which I already totally believe by the way). I don’t know. But the way he went about doing it sure was cocky. People respond to show offs in different ways. Those 2 girls seemed to like it. We actually did not care. We picked up right where we left off and goofed some more. I just thought I’d share this story.
What about you? If you were jamming with your friends and all of the sudden, somebody steps right in the middle of your group and shows off his moves, what would you do?
hahahaha “walked off like an explosion during an action movie in slow motion” yyuppp that seems pretty accurate.
LMAO – that’s one hella funny story. Girls do that all the time too. Me and my girls would be dancing and some shlores come and start “popping, locking and dropping” next to us like we were in some sort of a battle. Haha There are of course always peeps like the girls who “seem to like the stuff your “cocky son of a bitch” did and the girls who think we’re in some cheerleading tryouts Ha
lmao, that was funny!!!
I actually love to go stand beside those half drunk sorority sisters that are trying to look sexy but lack rhythm and DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT!! I do it for selfish entertainment. I love to see the looks on their faces when some crazy short-haired tattooed chick is able to able to steal the attention from uppity beeches. hahahah suckas!
