So I’m back in Austin. Was gone for about 8 months and man shits changed. I’m not much of a bar guy, I like to hit the clubs and dance. In order to do that, you need good music. I find myself wondering why the DJ’s are playing such whack music when I KNOW they are far more capable of shuttin the place down. I know its sometimes done at the request of the club owners and everybodies gotta make that paper. I’m just sayin, will the real DJ’s please stand up! I mean shit if you don’t see anyone dancing, switch it up.
Thanks for bringing this point up J. I always wondered myself… But I have a theory on that now: they don’t really want people to dance, they want them to drink!!! Very few places in Austin are set up like real dance clubs/floors anyway, they are more like bars. The strategy is to entice you with free entrance and wide reaching tunes… but it’s all really all about making you head for the bar as often as possible. And in the end, the music don’t matter anyway… You so tipsy, you’d be pretty much shake your ass to anything!!! LOL.
J, I agree with you 100%, Austin clubs, DJ, Owners whomever needs to step it up!!!!! Great music equals a great party experience !!!
well if you go to crap bars, u get crap music.. lol the bars fit the music and fits the crowd.
6th bars = top 40 main stream songs and the fun old school oldies (california love) frats love those
5th street bars and west 6th = more hip hop mainstream mixed with dance/ house, because apparently that’s the classy trend with people with their seven jeans and true religion jeans
east 6th bars (barberella, plush) = dance music, drum and bass, tattoos and breakers…
4th street bars = dance music, but with a bit of fierceness.. more mariah carey and gag on the speakerbox.
what crowd do u belong to? 🙂
Finding a spot with good music, people, and atmosphere is like shopping the sale rack at a clothes store… you may have to dig for a good find, but you’ll come across something to get excited about!
I agree with all of the above. However if the club owner thinks crap music sells drinks they better think again! I won’t stay long enough to order. I have neglected going out after each night of disappointment! Why go to the trouble of getting ready to just stand around or walk to club after club until you get more of a workout than a good time?! I know Austin has a very large gay community (which is great) but I feel like the overall music is slanted that way these days. Or maybe it’s for 12 year old girls who take E. Just sayin……. Wack!
